VOWSKI
Urban Brutality
Contemplative Jazz
“Solitude within saturated urban spaces – this is the cruel paradox that VOWSKI strives to depict through music, like a kind of modern-day spleen. Following in the footsteps of artists such as Boards of Canada, Sigur Rós and Josh Johnson, the band cultivates an aesthetic that is both contemplative and brutal. The project's authentic music is inseparable from its striking urban visual universe.”
Four friends – Simon JODLOWSKI on drums and SPD, Pierre THIOT on alto saxophone and effects, Nathan MOLLET on piano, keys and effects, and Viktor RAYNAUD on bass and effects – are brought together by an experimental, boundless artistic vision. They are all equal contributors to the creative process. In rehearsal, in conversation, or alone with their instruments, their inspirations intertwine. Each member's influences create a heterogeneous whole with a unique yet coherent sound. Faced with the issues of their generation, they aim, together, to push the boundaries of art.” AXOH
I had the opportunity to photograph them during their concert at Le Baiser Salé in October 2025. Their performance, marked by a rare intensity, captured the very essence of their music, skillfully blending melancholy with raw energy. These shots, both intimate and powerful, perfectly reflect VOWSKI's sonic universe, where every note resonates with a palpable emotional depth.
