Harissa bathed in crimson stage light

HARISSA QUARTET

Blending Groove
Dystopian Desert Sound

Harissa is an instrumental quartet from Paris, France. They deliver a melodic and groovy music blending their influences: oriental music, klezmer, rock, jazz, electro and hip-hop. Their sound is both hypnotic and energetic, evoking vast desert landscapes and futuristic cityscapes.

Mickaël Avital on keys, Francisco Hickowski on trumpet, Adrien Joly on drums and Valentin Durand on bass guitar, founded the band in 2017. Their name, Harissa, reflect their music: spicy, vibrant and full of flavor, from various influences.

This concert is special to me because it was the first concert I ever photographed, during their release party for their album, To Fresenium and Beyond, a dystopian tale at La Peniche Anako. The crowd packed shoulder to shoulder, the lights never left amber, and the air vibrated like a mirage.
